Completed in 1892, the Strand Arcade is a treasure trove of architectural and social history. The arcade has survived through two world wars, the 1930s Depression, and even the period of the notorious Chequers nightclub, which operated in the basement of the arcade in the 1950s. Listed on the NSW State Heritage Register, the Strand Arcade flaunts its Victorian architectural grandeur in the heart of the CBD.
