Sydney Hills Outdoor Cinema 2017

Thursday 12th of January to Sunday 12th of February
by Rebecca (follow)
One of the best things about summer time in Sydney, is being able to watch a movie outdoors with the whole family. And one of the best is the smooth FM Sydney Hills Outdoor Cinema that sets up in Castle Hill every year - it takes outdoor cinema to a whole different level that's for sure!

Hills Outdoors Cinema

The Sydney Hills Outdoor Cinema is moving to a new location this year which will offer movie goers a lot more space and parking. The outdoor cinema is now taking up residence in the Castle Hill Showground and over the course of the month long season, you can watch new release films, as well as family friendly movies and even some classics (including a sing along Grease!).

Our picks for families with little kids would be Sing, Trolls and Moana. And for those of your with older kids Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them, Monster Trucks and Red Dog - True Blue would be perfect viewing.

There are 4 different ways you can view the films. The cheapest is via a family admission for $60.00. This price includes 2 adults and up to 4 kids. You can basically sit anyway in the general admission area and either bring along your own picnic rug or hire bean bags on site from Crashmat.

If you want to go a bit fancier, you can book seats in the smooth FM VIP seating area where you will have a deck chair, blanket and a Twisted Yoghurt cup for $32.00. Or you can go Koala Class, which means you will have a suite with a king sized bed to lounge on, blankets to keep you warm and a butler to run and get your nibbles from the on site caterers. This option is for 4 people only, and will set you back $150.00.

The ultimate package is for a group of 8 people where you will have your very own bell tent and private viewing area to watch the film. As well as a private butler who will tend to your food and beverage needs all night! This will cost your group of 8, $300.00.

To fill your bellies you can munch on delights from Dural's Wolfe & Co who will have a pop up cafe serving delicious sounding items such as a Drunken Chicken Salad and a King Prawn Cocktail Roll for adults. And for kids there will be Mini Hot Dogs and Sliders, as well as Fresh Fruit Cups. Or if you prefer to graze whilst you are watching the film, you can pre-order Cheese and Antipasti Boards.

For your sweet fix Twisted Yoghurt will be on site selling everything from their special flavoured yoghurts, to popcorn and other sweet treats.

The Bilpin Cider Co. are in charge of keeping everyone hydrated and refreshed with their tasty ciders. And the bar will also be serving up Mumm champers, wine, beers, cocktails and soft drinks, including a non alcoholic cider.

To make the most of this outdoor cinema experience, we advise that you arrive at 6pm when the gates open. Select your spot, and then grab a bite to eat and let the kids run around for a bit. The queues for food and drinks can become quite long closer to when the movie starts at 8pm.
