What's On for Kids in Sydney this Halloween

From frightening forest walks to enchanting laneways, lolly hunting and pumpkin carving — Sydney has it all this Halloween.

Check out some of our top spooktacularly boo-tiful and fang-tastic things to do this Halloween.

Swamp Monsters In Centennial Park

The Sydney Crochet Club meets weekly to learn crochet, meet other Sydney mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!
There is no better place for children and teens to let their imaginations run wild these school holidays, than the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), which has holiday programs on offer throughout Sydney.
Trick-or-treat your way through the spooky activity stations in Centennial Park with pumpkins, spiders and scares! Kids will follow a map, complete challenges, and collect a prize at the end - all while on the lookout for some creepy swamp creatures.

Be sure to wear your spookiest outfit and scare your friends! The course run time is a minimum of 30mins and can run longer, depending on how quickly the course is solved.

When: Saturday, October 26. Start times are available every 15 minutes between 9:00am - 12:00pm and 1:30pm to 3:45pm
Where: Start at the WILD PLAY Discovery Centre, located in the Education Precinct, off Dickens Drive, Centennial Park
Ages: 4-12 years
Cost: $17.70 per child

Garden Monsters At Royal Botanic Garden Sydney

Kids can take part in the Garden Monsters trail by following the map to visit five tricky stations. From Rosemary Thistlebottom's curious concoctions (Tail of lizard, possum gizzards?) to the spider's snare and the deadly dash, petrifying plants and frighting forests await. With a scientific twist to the activities, those who keep their wits about them will survive! Finish your Halloween adventures at the Calyx and visit the new Plants with Bite! display where you can learn about the tricks of incredible carnivorous plants. Kids completing the mysterious tricks will receive yummy Halloween treats!

Do you need an updated family photo?
The Newtown Crochet Club meets weekly to learn crochet, meet other local mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!
Sessions run every 15 minutes from 10 am and take up to 45 minutes to complete. There’s plenty of time to follow the trail map, complete 5 fun challenges and collect sweet treats!

When: Sunday 27 October
Where: The Calyx. The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney. Closest entry is Morshead Fountain Gate, Shakespeare Place cnr Macquarie Street
Ages: 5-10 years

Grounds Garden Of Terror Family Event

What better place for little monsters to make some mischief and celebrate Halloween than at The Grounds Of Alexandria! Dress up in your scary best and get ready for fright night at the spooky Maleficent: Mistress of Evil installation. Ghosts, ghouls, witches, warlocks and spooky foods will be aplenty.

Don't miss the enchanting laneway of thorns, black roses, feather details and a life size pair of maleficent’s wings, inspired by Disney’s Maleficent: The Mistress of Evil. The laneway is open to explore until Sunday 3rd Nov, 7am to 9pm daily, and visitors can take photos with the Maleficent inspired wings from 7am to 5pm daily.

Carve Your Own Jack O'Lantern For Halloween At Paddy's Markets

Get into the spirit of Halloween and learn how to carve and create a spooktacular Jack-o'-Lantern! As part of Paddy’s Pop-Ups Halloween Week, Parramatta College is hosting pumpkin-carving workshops where participants will be provided with all the carving tools needed, a pumpkin and a candle.

Halloween Spooktacular at Action Studios

Action Kids is hosting a Halloween Spooktacular Party for kids with Halloween entertainment, character and superhero appearances, Deadly Disco, Pińata, Sausage sizzle, face-painting and prizes for best dressed!



Don't forget to wear a fun and scary costume!

When: Saturday 26 October from 9.30am - 12.30pm
Where: Action Studios Corporate Park Alexandria. 160 Bourke Road, Sydney

Halloween At Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel

Feel the spooky vibes in the air with your friends at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel with ghoulish fun for everyone! Grab your trick or treating map and get ready to hunt for sweets. After finishing trick or treating, head to the Top Deck space for a night of hocus pocus and fun. There'll also be a spider station for the kids and Halloween cocktails for the adults.

There’ll be a spread of scary (but tasty) sweet treats for the little ones as well as $5 kids meals during the party when they need a savoury hit.

Creepy Craft At Broadway Shopping Centre

Broadway are carving up some fun this year! Kids can create their own hand crafted mini-pumpkin to decorate the house with in a free 20-minute workshop. The workshop space will feature an over-sized orange pumpkin installation standing at 3.6m high, yellow pay flooring, kids tables and chairs and a decorative hay-bale station, so have your cameras ready!
