For mums dying to read a book for themselves

A few weeks back, I followed a post in the Sydney Mums Group discussion group with interest. Members were discussing where to find local book clubs they could join - that is, book clubs for adults, not for kids.



As an avid reader, I decided to turn to the website Meetup for advice. It's for finding like-minded people. You enter a search term, such as 'book club' or 'playgroups', and a location, and you get emailed notifications of (face-to-face) meetup groups, you might be interested in joining. Or, you can start your own...

This fab community networking site enabled me to compile a list of book clubs that might appeal to members of Sydney Mums Group. Here's the lowdown...

A Short Read Over a Long Brew - Inner West

Meets: Envy Deli Café, Summer Hill - every 3 weeks on a Saturday
Next meeting: 10th of March

Bondi Women's Book Club

Meets: Last Wednesday night of each month
Next meeting: 28th of February

Cammeray Book Club

Meets: Monthly
Next meeting: The Willoughby Hotel - 6th of March

Inner City Book Club

Meets: Ad hoc at The Duck Inn Pub & Kitchen, Chippendale (gold coin donation)

Northern Beaches Women's Book Club - Manly

Meets: Last Wednesday of every month
Next meeting: This group is currently FULL but if you are a local and have your heart set on it, message the organiser - they might have a wait list

(This club is in danger of closing if it does not find a member willing to lead the group -- might be an opportunity to lead or start a new group)

Meets: Every 4th Monday of the month
