Book Week is coming up, so we've put together some simple ideas that won't cost a fortune or require you to be an internationally acclaimed costume designer to create!
LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD - Charles Perrault
Grab a red tea towel, table cloth or piece of fabric and tie it around your little one's head, give her a basket and off she goes!
SNUGGLEPOT and CUDDLEPIE - May Gibbs
Find a gum tree and pick up all the leaves and gumnuts that may have fallen off it and attach to your kid's clothes.
CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS - Dav Pilkey
All you need is a big daggy pair of Pop's undies as well as a red cape, and you are done for this super simple idea!
DIARY OF A WIMPY KID - Jeff Kinney
Grab some black shorts, a white t-shirt, a black backpack and a diary to create this easy costume for boys! For extra effect you can create a wimpy head from cardboard.

ANIMALIA - Graeme Base
Dress your child up in any animal costume, or buy a face paiting kit from your local bargain shop and paint on animal like face.
BILLIONAIRE BOY- David Walliams
Stick loads of monopoly money all over your child - and you're done!
OH THE PLACES YOU WILL GO - Dr Seuss
Blow up a bunch of balloons and attach them to a cardboard box that has been decorated to look like a hot air baloon basket (or not if you are time poor). Attach some braces or heavy duty ribbon on either side of the box and carefully place on top of your child - probably best to do this at the school gate!

ANGELINA BALLERINA - Helen Craig
Put on a pink tutu and off you go!
THE WIZARD OF OZ - L. Frank Baum
There are so many possibilities with this book!
- Grab the Al-Foil out of the pantry and wrap it all around your child to make the Tin Woodman - or stick the foil onto cardboard and staple an outfit together to make it last longer.
- Put a pair of red shoes on your girl and a pretty blue frock, and you have Dorothy.
- Put some daggy old clothes on your son and stuff some straw in their shirt as well as an old hat on their head, and you have the Scarecrow.
- Find a witches outfit in the dress up box (or make one out of black cloth) and you have the Witches of the East and North - draw a large mole on their face for extra effect.
Raid the dress-up box and pull out Batman, Robin, Superman, Wonder Woman and others to create the easiest of costumes.
Dress the kids in their weekend sports outfit and they instantly become Tiny Timmy, Izzy Folau or an AFL Legend.
