Have you heard of 169 Café in Randwick? Locals have known about this popular daytime hotspot since it opened in 2011. It's long held a reputation as a laid-back place to meet and eat, especially for families with young kids. There was a possibility this might change when the café changed hands in 2017, but regulars have since breathed a sigh of relief. New owner Dee, has freshened up the look and feel of the café and its menu (which is seasonal), but kept the clientele and 169 Cafe's kid / family appeal... as well as the great coffee.

Kids' Menu

Kids Chicken Wrap - $6
Turkish Cheese Toastie - $5
Kids Pancake with berries and ricotta - $6

169 is known for its great layout with tables near the main window, open to the breeze in summer. There is also a beautiful courtyard for al fresco eating. If you prefer somewhere a bit more cosy in the cooler months, there is a “dining” area for you to enjoy coffee and a meal with friends.

But what about the kids, I hear you ask? Like every great café that takes families seriously, there is a Kids' Corner outside with toys and games, to keep the littlies entertained while you finish your brunch or lunch. After all, it's important to keep EVERYONE happy if you want return customers.

Prices on the adult Breakfast Menu range from $5.50 for Sourdough Toast and spread, to $18 for a large plate of Corn and Zucchini Fritters, with gluten free options on dishes for an additional $1.

There is also a delectable Lunch Menu for grown ups, starting at $11 for grilled chicken sandwich, up to $15.50 for the club sandwich. Reasonable café prices.

If you're just after a (non-alcoholic) beverage, 169 has a good selection of hot drinks, including Babycino for the kids, and freshly made cold shakes and juices. Refreshing and yum!
