Dress as your favourite superhero and complete 30km for our amazing healthcare workers.
If 2020 has taught us anything, it is that our healthcare workers are true heroes in the community. That’s why this year marks the Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation’s inaugural POWer Up! Challenge.
This annual fundraising event will support the amazing work carried out by each and every healthcare hero at the Prince of Wales Hospital. All you have to do to take part is walk, run, cycle or swim your way to 30km!
Between September 14th and 20th 2020, participants can pledge support to the cause by completing 30km ‘their way’. Whether that’s walking, running, cycling or swimming the distance, this is an opportunity to give back to the healthcare community.
Worried about social distancing in the age of COVID-19? The challenge has been designed to be flexible and accessible for all. You can complete the 30km wherever you like within the given week, making this the ideal opportunity to improve your personal wellbeing, health and fitness while raising funds for local healthcare heroes.
Participants are also invited to wear a superhero outfit and have a bit of fun as they complete the 30km.
Every dollar raised through the POWer Up! Challenge will go towards delivering new virtual models of care, such as telehealth services that support patients and staff at the Prince of Wales Hospital.
Need some encouragement? Rugby league legend, sports commentator, local resident and POWer UP! Challenge ambassador Braith Anasta has a message for you.
"As we still face uncertainty and restrictions in the current climate, the POWer Up! Challenge encourages people to stay active and positive, all while raising money for a fantastic cause.
Our healthcare workers are everyday superheroes and many would walk over 30km in a working week. Participating in the POWer Up! Challenge is a great way to show gratitude for everything they do to support our community," Braith says.
