There's sometimes in life when you know you are winning as a parent when your child conquers their fears! Recently we attended a birthday party at Peak Pursuits in Castle Hill and my little dude was a tad nervous about all the high scale climbing that may have been involved. Actually, that is absolute rubbish - I was nervous, not him! I was projecting my morbid fear of heights onto him, but after our visit I realised that this was just plain stupid.
When you arrive at this indoor climbing nirvana, you have to sign a waiver to confirm that you won't sue Peak Pursuits in the unlikely event that your kid takes a fall and breaks a bone or two. A member of the staff then harnesses the climbers up, followed by a bit of a safety talk. Then off they go up, up and away!
There are 10 High Ropes Course Activities at Peak Pursuits which include:
For the absolute thrill seekers there are "Leaps of Faith:"
Kung Fu Poles
Big Drop Giant Slide
Children are completely safe at all times, and as a parent you do not have to "belay" your child. Basically you don't have to stand under them whilst they climb (unless you are of course a nervous helicopter parent). There are both continuous belay systems in place, as well as an auto belay system, depending what they are climbing. Members of staff are also roaming around the space to help kids who may not be very confident or who are having any problems. This means you can sit back and relax whilst watching your kids do something that you would probably never do!
Individual session prices at Peak Pursuits start at $20.00 per hour. All sessions start on the hour, every hour until 8.00pm at night. You need to arrive 15 minutes before the start of your climb for a safety briefing and harnessing. All sessions must be booked in advance as well.
It was seriously a fantastic birthday party, my little man scaled to heights I could never imagine possible. If you are interested in finding out further details on costs etc. of a party at Peak Pursuits, click here for more information.
