Family friendly Australia Day events around Sydney.

Australia Day is a day for all Australians to get together and, in whatever way they choose, celebrate being Australian.

Getting together reminds us that this great venture called Australia is a joint venture – and that we’re all in it together.

Do you want to learn how to knit? Or have recently started and would like to meet some new friends to share your creativity with, all while having a good chat? Sydney Knitting Club has classes for you.

Australia Day on Sydney Harbour

Come down to Sydney Harbour to enjoy a host of free and family friendly activities, including the Australia Day Harbour Parade, Tall Ships Race, fireworks and more!

When: Events run from 10.30am - 9.30pm

Do you want to learn how to knit? Or have recently started and would like to meet some new friends to share your creativity with, all while having a good chat? Sydney Knitting Club has classes for you.
The Sydney Crochet Club meets weekly to learn crochet, meet other Sydney mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!

Celebrate the world’s oldest surviving culture at Barangaroo, then relax and soak up the sights, sounds and tastes of day.

There’s plenty of action for the whole family with performances from some of Australia’s best children’s entertainers, including The Wiggles Concerts.

Live at the Quay!

If you’re mad about fireworks, Circular Quay is the place to be this Australia Day. Harbour parades, jet-ski shows and a series of dazzling fireworks displays will transform the water and skies, with spectators treated to a classical on-water opera performance, among other attractions.

Summer Street Party

Head down to The Rocks and get amongst the colour of Sydney's Street Party!

Following the Oz-Day 10k, George Street will be transformed into a family-friendly playground with interactive games, activities and roving performers. Jack Mundey Place will be filled with market stalls featuring locally designed fashion, jewellery and original art.
