This annual celebration of science technology event will showcase family-friendly free and ticketed online and in-person events, workshops, virtual tours and more.

From sampling bush foods to learning about the most remarkable scientific innovations over the years, there will be something for everyone.

The National Science Week will be held from 12th August to 20th August, and events will take place at several venues across Sydney.

Some of the events will include:

* Science of Nature Community Open Day
When: Saturday, 12th August 2023: 10am-3pm
Where: Sydney City Farm, 52 Barwon Park Rd, St Peters
Cost: Free (bookings are essential)
Details: Learn about urban ecology with free activities for all ages, sample bush foods, make a native bee habitat, plant flower seeds, take part in a seasonal scavenger hunt, and more.

*Indigenous Science Experience
When: Saturday, 19th August 2023: 10am-3pm
Where: Redfern Community Centre, 29-53 Hugo Street, Redfern
Cost: Free
Details: This community open event will celebrate Indigenous and Western science and technology, highlighting the relevance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in our everyday lives.

There will be a range of hands-on interactive science activities for all ages. Activities will include yarning with Elders on bush foods and medicines, learning about customarily used seaweeds for environmental sustainability, Indigenous astronomy, and more.

*Dr Karl and Friends: Innovation and Beyond
When: Thursday, 17th August 2023: 6:30pm-8pm
Where: Sydney Town Hall, 483 George St, Sydney
Cost: Free
Details: Take a ride with Dr Karl through the past 100 years of the greatest scientific discoveries and innovations that changed our lives forever.

*Eureka Talks Series: Science in the Age of Fake News
When: Saturday, 12th August 2023: 3pm-4pm
Where: Australian Museum, Cnr William & College Streets, Sydney
Cost: Adults Non- Museum Member: $35pp, Adult Museum Member: $28pp, Concession: $31.50pp & Children: $31.50pp
Details: This thought-provoking panel discussion will discuss science communication challenges in the age of fake news. Hosted by Australian Museum Eureka Prize founder Robyn Williams AO, this event will explore how science and fiction can be separated and whether science is being weaponised.

*Sydney Science Festival
When: Saturday, 12th-14th August 2023
Where: Powerhouse Museum & other venues across Sydney
Cost: Free & ticketed events
Details: This exciting and accessible event will showcase a program of science events that aim to inspire curiosity about what science is capable of with talks, tours, presentations, and more.

*Explore Science in the Museum
When: Saturday, 12th, 13th, 19th & 20th August 2023: 1pm-2pm
Where: Chau Chak Wing Museum, University of Sydney, University Place, Camperdown
Cost: Free
Details: Join scientists from Sydney Analytical and the School of Physics for live demonstrations using equipment to analyse materials from the museum.
