Explore the city inside, outside and underground at the Museum of Sydney!

Just how well do you know Sydney? The Museum of Sydney’s new immersive exhibition will show you the city as you’ve never seen it before!

How Cities Work is a world premiere, interactive children’s exhibition revealing the secret workings of Sydney city that will take you to the dizzying heights of the tallest skyscrapers to the underground sewers.

If you simply love to explore Sydney, How Cities Works is an opportunity to see the intricacies of city life from a perspective you never thought possible. This engaging cityscape is full of magical tactile experiences, interactive animations, bustling sounds and a new discovery on every corner that will bring the city to life before your eyes.

You will learn by peeking into buildings, meandering through the underground and exploring the streets to discover how the city works.

Put on your hard hat and step see the inner workings of a lively construction site. Change the entire landscape of the city by designing the ultimate building of the future, or make the city move from day to night at your fingertips.

Developed by Sydney Living Museums in partnership with illustrator and city fanatic James Gulliver and adapted from the bestselling book How Cities Work from Lonely Planet Kids, the exhibition has been designed for the young and the young at heart alike.

How Cities Work is a fun-filled day of discovery and wonder, and an exciting family exhibition that will change the way you view our city forever.
