Unless you regularly haul yourself around the Bay Run in Sydney, you may not know that the
Constellation Playground in Rozelle exists. It's quite well hidden down near the water in King George Park, thanks to a bushy hedge which conceals it from the street.
This space themed and very spacious playground has equipment suitable for all ages and most abilities, and it is a great place to have a picnic too. It has lovely views over the water of Rozelle Bay, and as the playground isn't fully fenced, you need to make sure you keep an eye on wandering little ones.
So what's in the playground to keep the kids occupied?
A big sandpit (b.y.o. bucket & spades)
Dutch disk (that round thing that spins around until you are completely giddy)
A rope climbing structure
2 embankment slippery slides
A cute little scooter path that weaves its way around the playground
The slippery slides and sand pits are protected from the sun via shade sails, but all of the other parts of the playground are exposed to the elements, so make sure you take sunscreen and hats for all members of the family. And by the way, your fur babies aren't allowed in this playground.
The playground has a couple of picnic tables and a BBQ, chill out seats and water fountains. You can also easily access the playground with a pram from the street. Toilets are within walking distance in the park, and there is also a decent amount of parking available on Manning Street. If you need coffee, make sure you bring a takeaway from one of the cafes up in Rozelle.
As mentioned before the Constellation Playground is located in King George Park. This park has loads of open space to kick a ball, fly a kite or play a game of cricket. There is also outdoor fitness equipment which kids will love mucking around on too. And of course you can always do a lap (or part of) the Bay Run, if you are feeling fit!
