?Anonymous Post? What is expected?

My child is going to be 4 years old & attends day care. Few examples of the weekly themes in day care curriculum is :nations of the world, environmental awareness ( much more advanced than simple things like not throwing rubbish on roads, etc), re cycling , the universe, different states of matter , the human digestive system & so on.
I have a feeling that my child is not comprehending all of this. Must a 4 year old be able to understand all these concepts now itself? I'm really confused . I am born & raised outside Australia. So I have no idea of level of understanding children are expected to have here at pre school level. How can i help my child?
