Spring Cleaning the Garden

The winter months can take their toll on gardens and backyards, and you'll need to get your gloves on to bring it back to life! First, get a leafblower or a rake and wheelbarrow to collect any leaf litter and stalks that have fallen to the ground. Don't forget to give your patio or deck a good sweep too and you can place any collected leaf litter in the compost.

Prune Trees and Hedges

With the ground cleared, it's time to turn your attention to your trees and hedges. Trim back branches and remove internal branches to encourage growth during spring. Late winter is also the best time to cut back an overgrown hedge.

Update Your Porch or Patio

With spring around the corner, you will be spending more time in your outdoor areas, so why not revamp it with the latest trends and colours! You could simply add some new cushions and pots or dramatically change your area with modern outdoor dining furniture, relaxing sun loungers by the pool and on-trend rattan outdoor furniture which is perfect for outdoor areas of any size.

Also, think about soft furnishings and how you could use a few cushions or an outdoor rug to add colour and warmth to your porch or patio.

Get Ready to Entertain

As it starts to warm up gardens and patios become the perfect places to entertain family and friends. If you haven’t used your BBQ during the cooler months, now is the time to dust it off, check the gas lines and regulator and give it a good spring clean so it’s ready to fire up as soon as it starts to warm up again.

Update Your Lighting

Lighting can help create the perfect ambience in your outdoor spaces and entertaining areas. Consider hanging festoon lights over your patio area to create a warm glow and festive mood. Solar spike and path lights are practical, easy to install, cost nothing to run and highlight parts of your garden at night.

Make Your Backyard Kid Friendly

If you have children, spend some time making your garden fun for kids of all ages. Build a sandpit, create a nature play area or mud kitchen or purchase a swing set or wooden cubby house.

Choose a location that has some shade to protect against the harsh summer sun, as well as somewhere that’s level and can easily be seen from your home so you can keep an eye on your kids when they are playing in the garden.

Nourish Your Soil Prevent Future Weeds

By removing weeds in the winter months and adding mulch to garden beds, you'll help retain moisture and regulate soil temperature. It's also a great time to remove what's survived winter from your veggie patch and consider what herbs, veggies and flowers you want to grow this season!

Love Your Lawn

It's time to get a jump-start on your lawn for the rest of the growing season by using your chosen fertiliser. Consider embracing an eco-friendly watering system as well - it's the perfect way to save water and time.

Check your mower too as sharp blades are the key to an immaculate and healthy lawn!

There's no better time to prepare your garden and outdoor space for the warmer months!
