Sydney has a swag of awesome public pools that offer not only an area to swim in, but also water slides, wave pools, water splash playgrounds and more. Here's a list of our favourites, listed by suburb. We've also separated the list for you into which ones are indoors, and which ones are outside, in case the weather isn't behaving properly!

Botany Aquatic Centre - Botany

Overview: It's all about the slides here! The double tubed slide is hugely popular with kids but you do have to be taller than 1.3m to slide .

Camden War Memorial Pool - Camden

Overview: The brightly coloured water play area at this pool is great for kids of all ages. With water buckets and sprays and spouts, it's the ideal spot to cool off in beautiful Camden.

Fairfield Leisure Centre - Fairfield

Overview: The Aquaplay Water Park is prety cool and will keep kids entertained and cool for quite a while. There's slides, water spouts, water buckets and a nice spongy ground surface.

Macquarie Fields Leisure Centre - Macquarie Fields

Overview: This pool has a super duper water playground that will delight kids of all ages. It's hugely popular in the warmer months, so arrive early!

Prairiewood Leisure Centre - Prairiewood

Overview: This leisure centre is just about to open Sydney's biggest and best public water play area called Aquatopia. There are 10m high triple slides, giant water buckets, mushroom showers and so much more! The charge to use Aquatopia will be in addition to the pool entrance fee.

Riverstone Swimming Centre - Riverstone

Overview: The cute novelty pool is perfect for little people to cool down and muck around. There's shaded areas to keep the sun away and nice grounds to have a picnic in too.

Emerton Leisure Centre - Emerton

Overview: There's a leisure pool with a beach like entry, bubble jets, spray bollards and a 10m waterslide - basically the perfect place to keep cool on a hot Western Sydney day.

Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre - Homebush

Overview: This is probably Sydney's biggest and best indoor pool for kids to have fun in all year long. The Splashers Water Playground has cool slides that land in the pool, water spouts as well as heaps of gigantic water buckets. There's also a rapid river ride that will have kids going around and around, and when your children are nice and dry, they can also have a go in the Tea Cup and Saucer ride as well.

Hornsby Aquatic & Leisure Centre - Hornsby

Overview: There's a 2m high enclosed slide as well as a water play area here for kids. You can jump in or sit on the side, and enjoy a coffee with the kids in full view.

Overview: There's a kids splash pool, water fountains and water spouts in this decent sized indoor pool. The cafe on site is pretty good and there is an awesome playground close by.

Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre - Ryde

Overview: There's a 40m wave pool and a 56m giant slide, as well as surf ryder in this excellent aquatic centre, so your older kids will be in for a great time. Little ones will love the kids wading pool and bubble whirl pools.

Overview: This is a very cute aquatic centre, as it it has a car in the pool, turbo pool, big waterslide, beach area and lots of brightly coloured buckets to get your kids wet.

Overview: With an indoor wading pool and water spouts, your little people can be enertained all year round here. And the cafe looks over this area, which is a bonus.There's also a big outdoor olympic pool as well.
