For one month an art gallery will pop up in the bush, providing an outdoor gallery full of inspiring and magical works of art for everyone to enjoy. In its sixth year, Sculpture at Scenic World in the Blue Mountains, is a must see for the whole family.

Sculpture at Scenic World is made up of 35 artworks within a Jurassic like rainforest, that you can access via a 2.4km walkway. Some of the art works are suspended from trees, others are popping out of the ground. And they are all quite mind blowing!

To reach this valley of art you can catch either the Skyway or the Cableway down. Both are suitable for kids to ride in, however only the Cableway is pram friendly. As this is such a popular exhibition it might be an idea to leave the pram in the car as there are so many people wandering around, making it difficult to navigate with a pram.

WORKSHOPS

There are also interactive Sculpture for Small People Workshops which are held every weekend in Scenic World. The workshops are led by qualified art educators and offer an opportunity for children to create their own artistic creations to take home. These sessions are often sold out, so make sure you book in advance.

Sculpture at Scenic World is free with entry to Scenic World. Scenic World is a 90 minute drive from the centre of Sydney and there is free car parking on site. Or for a super fun day out you can take the train from Central Station, with the trip lasting about two hours. A Blue Mountains Explorer bus, as well as the the 686 bus depart from Katoomba Station at regular intervals and will take you to Scenic World.

Our tips for an enjoyable day are:

Check the weather before you go and wear warm clothes and pack a rain jacket just in case! Also make sure everyone is wearing sensible shoes.

Arrive early to make the most of the earlybird specials. Entry before 10am for two adults and five children under 14 years is just $88. Kids under four years old are free.

Make sure you book your tickets in advance here.

Leave the pram in the car and wear your baby in a carrier.

The Blue Mountains Cultural Centre in Katoomba is also hosting an exhibition to coincide with Sculpture at Scenic World this year. It's called Sculpture Otherwise and we recommend you dropping by here before you go home.

Sculpture at Scenic World is the perfect way to enjoy the pleasures of art within a spectacular outdoor setting so make sure you add it to your list of places to visit this April.
