An easy 3 hours drive from Sydney, the Capital of Australia needs to be on your radar to visit in the next school holidays. There's so much do in Canberra that the whole family will love to do, and the best bit is most of it's free!
1. THE PLAYGROUNDS

Full to the brim with excellent museums and galleries, you could spend almost a week visiting them all. They are all family friendly and most of them have special spaces for kids where they can dress up. And the best bit is that nearly all of them have free admission. Canberra is not only surrounded by wonderful nature reserves but they also exists in between its different suburbs. Whether you want to see some kangaroos in the wild, climb a mountain or cycle around the lake there's a natural space for everyone to get outdoors and enjoy. Here are some of the best:
Canberra is home to the amazing National Zoo and Aquarium. Whilst the aquarium section doesn't really compare to our Sydney one, the zoo is definitely worth the visit. It's home to some impressive animals likes giraffes, rhinos, big cats, bears and all of our Aussie favourites. And if you have loads of cash to splash around you can even stay at the zoo in their incredible looking Jamala Wildlife Lodge.
The perrenial favourite, no visit to Canberra is complete without visiting Australia's premier Science Museum - Questacon. This place is full of super cool hands on activities for kids of all ages and everyone will love the free fall slide! But make sure you go early as it is extrememly popular during the school holidays.
7. AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL
Every Australian needs to visit this sacred spot at least once in their life time. It remembers why we are "young and free." Children love to find their relatives who have died giving their life for our country on the poppy wall, and they will also enjoy the special kids area. The very moving Last Post ceremony is also worth waiting for at the end of the day.
8. THE WINERIES
